The Africa Channel and The Africa Channel UK are American English language Television channels that feature programming from Africa. They are intended to give viewers a taste of the best English-language programming from the African continent. Programming includes: News, documentaries, music, series, specials, feature films, music, cultural programs and more. One of the key investors of The Africa Channel is well-known NBA player Dikembe Mutombo, who is of Congolese descent.
The African Channel is independently owned and operated and it launched on September 2005. In September 2007, a UK version of the channel was launched and it is currently available on Sky Digital.[1]
The channel launched in high definition on August 1, 2010.[2]
The African Channel is an associate member of the Caribbean Cable Cooperative[3]
